Let's ask the wt360 SUNNY AI companion about the Fall weather trends and the stormy pattern the next couple weeks. CLICK ON IMAGES FOR A LARGER VIEW.

LOG 1

The next couple weeks (7-21 Nov) shows a stormy pattern for the Southwest U.S. with more flooding potential and the risk for the first snowstorm in New England (higher elevations). Much needed drier pattern in the Southeast and Florida after all the flooding.

LOG 2

Fall (1 Sep - 21 Nov) Summary shows excessive rainfall for larger swaths of the U.S. from the Southwest to the Midwest, Rockies, Florida and the Middle Atlantic. The cooler spots have been in the Southwest, Central Rockies with similar YOY trends in the Northeast and warmer in the Central U.S. Snowfall started off heavier than last year through October and now dipping for the front half of November.

LOG 13

The 14-day storm track shows a series of big storms headed for the Southwest U.S. and maybe another Nor'easter for the Northeast around Friday the 13th.

LOG 5

Last Week (1-7 Nov) across the World shows the U.S. trending +4.1F warmer than last year, warmest in 4 years and 4th warmest in 41 years. The bright spot for cooler YOY trends was the West and Rockies where it was also very stormy with flooding. This benefits outerwear sales, storm related merchandise, pantry loading categories, storm tires, etc. Very warm in the Northeast was a big negative for Fall apparel but benefits the Home Centers and outdoor categories. National Rainfall was up +226% vs last year and 8th wettest in 41 years.

LOG 10

The heart of the split Polar Vortex was over Europe - the coldest in 10 years and Central Siberia. This is a classic reminder that just because the Polar Vortex weakens, it does not mean the cold will head to the U.S. as many were indicating the previous couple weeks. The World overall showing classic El Nino trends with the World overall the wettest in 14 years.

LOG 6

NFL Week #9 (halfway point of the season) shows cooler trends for the East Coast games, very warm for the Midwest and West game. The Patriots-Packers and Cardinals-Seahawks games are damp; rest look dry benefiting attendance.

LOG 7

This week (8-14 Nov) Veteran's Day (11th) shows the extreme warmth in the Northeast diminishing, cooler Southeast but much hotter for the Northern Plains and Rockies. Models have been hinting at another Nor'easter with heavier snow potential for the higher elevations of the Northeast late in the week. This pattern has been showing cooler daytime highs (coolest in 7 years) but warmer nighttime lows (#1 warmest in 41 years) so a mixed bag for retail sales. Consumers shop during the day so a minor boost to Fall weather categories. Rainfall up +40% vs last year.

LOG 8

The 6-day snowfall outlook (7-12 Nov) doesn't show much as the Nor'easter starts on the 13th-14th just beyond this outlook.

LOG 9

Next week (15-21 Nov) shows the heat building in the Central Plains but cooler for the East Coast. The highest demand for Fall apparel is likely in this region with storm related merchandise, outerwear categories doing very well along the West Coast -Southwest where more widespread flooding is likely. A theme for the Winter ahead! Same trends with cooler daytime high temperatures (U.S. coolest in 4 years) but morning lows the #1 warmest in 41 years.

LOG 11

The World 2-week Temperature Outlook (8-21 Nov) shows the South and Middle Atlantic the most favorable for Fall merchandise. Very warm across Canada and still cool across the U.K. and Central Europe.

LOG 12

The World 2-week Precipitation Outlook (8-21 Nov) remains stormy in the Southwest, Mexico, Brazil, Europe, but much drier in the Southeast.
