March 2020 Weather Recap

March 2020 will go down in infamy as the month where life in the U.S. was changed forever as the global pandemic reached our shores. The one thing that didn't change this month was the ongoing warmer temperature trends as this was the fifth month in a row where temperatures trended warmer than last year for the U.S. as a whole.

Captain's Log 20 Apr '20 Stuck in a Rut!

This weather pattern remains generally the same with cold East, warm West and that holds into next week as well. A fast up and down 3-day pattern with the U.S. generally below average the 20th-22nd, warmer than average 23rd-25th, colder 26th-28th then warmer 29th - May 1st. Middle May looks like a big nationwide warm surge near Mother's Day weekend and the week following.

Captain's Log 6 Apr '20 Big Warm Surge, Colder Easter, Better May

The warmest period of Spring so far is 6-8 April for the nation as a whole, but a strong cold front will usher in a much cooler Easter weekend. Europe on the warm side for Easter weekend. How to tell the difference from allergy ailments, big surge this week, and COVID19. Next week a much cooler week in the U.S. but a warm up late in the period. We're saying "social distancing" but maybe a better term is "physical distancing". Look at your own neighborhoods...we see the neighbors a lot more, even if 6 feet away, families and churches are coming "closer" together even if physically apart and families are certainly spending a lot more quality time together. So, some good may be coming out of this and we'll be stronger on the other side of this. :) God bless and protect the nurses, doctors and medical professionals...you are truly super heroes and we THANK YOU.
